A lot of people always look forward to the new year. Not everybody, but a good certain amount do. So when 2020 came, I thought it would be like every other new year. You set your goals of what you want to accomplish in the new year. For me a sneakerhead, I was thinking about the sneakers that were dropping this year. So I bought a few sneakers at the beginning of 2020. Then the news hit of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Giana GiGi Bryant passing away in a plane crash. That was a big hit. That man was a living legend in the flesh. Then another big whammy was the pandemic.
I first heard about this through one of my favorite YouTubers Lovelyti TV. (I love her). Everybody knows what that is which is the Corona Virus aka Covid-19. I remember when the World Health Organization declared it to be a pandemic. I was shocked and scared. My job made us all start working from home. Which I didn’t have a problem with at all. I’m thinking everything would be the same. Well no it wasn’t. A lot of people were out if jobs and a lot of jobs and a lot of businesses ended up closing, So I thought I would still be able to do what I love would is to buy and collect sneakers. So one day I remember this one Jordan sneaker was dropping on the Nike SNKRS app. Once it hits 10:00 A.M., (my time when it drops). I instantly chose my size and put it in my cart. So I got it in my cart. It said I was in line. After a few minutes, it then shows that I didn’t get the sneaker. I was bummed because I wanted the sneaker, but it didn’t ruin my day though. Then I tried again getting another Jordan sneaker another Saturday that month. The same thing happened. I’m like what going on, this doesn’t usually happen at all. I remember that the last time I tried getting a sneaker in 2020 was the Jordan Retro 4 Off-White Sail. I thought I would be able to get them. I was wrong again.
So after that, I thought something was telling me to stop buying sneakers. I’m thinking no, I love sneakers. Those are one of the things that I consider luxury to me. I had to think about not buying sneakers because I wasn’t getting hits on the SNLKRS app or any other places to get sneakers. I didn’t want to, but I know I had to. So for me, I was still at university and I was working a full-time job. With me having full-time job and going to college, I could only take so many classes because of work. I had to take a lot of online classes. With the pandemic, my school made everything to online classes which helped me to be able to take all the classes that I needed to complete my degree. I didn’t have to rearrange my work schedule for that. It was a blessing in disguise for me. I stopped buying sneakers and focused on school more. Now that I have graduated from college/ university. I am now focused on what I love which is getting back to being more creative and sneakers. I know that there were plenty of sneakers that dropped when I stop buying sneakers. Some of them were good and I wanted to have them too. Now that I look back at it. I don’t regret not buying sneakers during the beginning of Covid-19 so I could finish school. There are a few sneakers that I still want to get but that resell price may stop me. Anyway, thank you for reading this post. Remember take care and be safe.
